Odemwingie Arrival Likely to Trigger Wood Loan

West Bromich Albion this week confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie from Locomotiv Moscow on a three year deal, after a prolonged search for a proven goalscorer. This probably means Manager Roberto Di Matteo will now look to release young All White striker Chris Wood on loan to make sure he gets some regular first team football (he had been reluctant to do so until his striking stocks were strengthened). Wood was not in the WBA squad that got hammered 6 zip by Chelsea on the weekend.

18 year old Wood had previously been linked to several suitor League 1 and Championship clubs, with Barnsley the apparent frontrunners to secure him on a loan deal.

  1. Let's hope he gets something sorted out as soon as possible, he needs football and hopefully somewhere we can see him play. Crossing my fingers for a London club

  2. Great site mate, a couple of seasons playing Championship football is not a bad at this stage of his career, we have to remember he is only 18.

If WBA get relegated then it will be good for him to be in a team that is winning on a regular basis next season. Playing in the Premiership this year for WBA is mentally tough for any player.

One more comment he needs to be with a club that plays football not long ball donkey football, as the classic English No.9 striker is a thing of the past.

  3. Its a bonus having the Championship highlights on Sky this season, so we might see a wee bit of Wood if he gets a gig there.
